Interoperability
Multiple SIF Zones
A single instance of the SIFWorks ZIS can manage multiple SIF Zones for centralized deployment and reduced hardware costs. Districts typically create one zone per school and one zone to represent the district itself. The SIFWorks Administration Console features "Zone Templates" for easy management of multiple zones. Zone Templates are essential for mid- to large-sized districts where potentially hundreds of zones may exist. Simply define your agents in a template and they're automatically configured in all zones.
Multiple SIF Versions
SIFWorks supports all versions of the Schools Interoperability Framework.
- SIF 2.0r1
- SIF 1.5
- SIF 1.1
- SIF 1.0r2
- SIF 1.0r1
Web-Based Administration Console
District IT staff and system integrators will quickly appreciate the web-based SIFWorks Administration Console. It's easy to use and is designed for enterprise-wide management of SIF. The Administration Console organizes enterprises, zones, and agents in a familiar Explorer-style tree with drill-down property sheets.
Cross Platform
SIFWorks runs on any server operating system that supports the Java 2 Runtime Environment, including:
- Microsoft Windows 2000/XP/2003
- Novell Open Enterprise Server 2
- Mac OS X
- Linux
- Solaris
Standalone
Unlike other Zone Integration Servers on the market, the SIFWorks ZIS is a standalone product. It runs out of the box on any OS that supports the Java 2 Runtime Environment, without the need for expensive third-party database or messaging software.
NT Service/Mac Startup Item Support
On the Windows and Mac OS X platforms, the SIFWorks ZIS runs as an NT Service or Startup Item for uninterrupted operation. Typically Novell OES, Linux and Solaris administrators add the SIFWorks ZIS to their systems' boot scripts as well.

"PowerSchool is a favorite among all stakeholders in the district, but particularly among parents and teachers. The parent portal has transformed the collaborative process among parents and teachers and enabling them to focus on the crux of the student information system - student performance and achievement."
