PowerSchool
PowerSchool Highlights
PowerSchool brings exciting change to the continuous evolution of the student information system. With a fresh look, PowerSchool is loaded with features and enhancements, including:
Visual Scheduler
Drag-and-drop functionality makes scheduling simple! PowerSchool administrators now have the flexibility to build master schedules using drag-and-drop functionality. Visual Scheduler incorporates the scheduling philosophy presented in Pearson's Master Schedule Build Workshop, focusing on satisfying student course requests, balancing classes, and satisfying teacher schedule requests.
Co-teaching
Assign any number of teachers or staff to a section. With co-teaching, any number of teachers and staff can be associated with a section. Additional teachers can have their own level of access to PowerTeacher Gradebook and PowerTeacher Portal.
Parent Portal
Parents and guardians can view their children's Schoolnet assessment data. The Parent Portal now has assessment data from Schoolnet. Parents can review student's item-by-item test results to better understand their strengths.
Seating Chart
The new seating chart available in PowerTeacher makes setting up seating charts and taking attendance easy and intuitive. New students show up immediately and the student photos make it easy to configure classroom settings, including furniture, with free form and standard drag-and-drop formats.
Data Validation
New data validation rules are available in PowerSchool version 7.2. This new feature can be configured district-wide and applied to almost any system or custom field in the Students or Teachers tables. Administrators can apply multiple rules per field and configurations can include Text Rules, Number Rules and Date rules.
Data Validation Report
Along with the Data Validation tool, a Data Validation Report is also available. This report, accessible through the Student Group Function and Staff Group Function, will scan for students or teachers and staff records that contain invalid data.
Session Management
New in PowerSchool version 7.2 is a session management feature. This new feature will give a warning before the session times out so you can either save all your information or continue without losing all entered data.
API
With PowerSchool version 7.2, custom plugins created by licensed PowerSchool partners can now be installed by PowerSchool system administrators. This new feature allows automatic plugin registration, single sign-on, school-level access and PowerSchool data exchange. With PowerSchool 7.5, Event API sends notifications to external systems when data changes. To learn how to become a PowerSchool partner, please click here.
Evolution of the SIS
The core technologies in PowerSchool use the Java programming language, resulting in better performance, better stability, and an easy installation process. This technology forms the foundation for PowerSchool to support multiple languages and integrate with other systems.
Under-the-hood, PowerSchool uses the latest version of the industry-leading database, Oracle 11g.

"When people ask me when I'm going to go live with 7.0 I can honestly say it's the first release in a very long time that I will be putting on my live server as soon as they let me."
